JavaScript is the language of the browser, but for many years now its reach has been expanding to the point where we have Atwood’s “Law”: “any application that can be written in JavaScript, will eventually be written in JavaScript.” (@codinghorror)

So why is it that many developers with powerful JavaScript skills don’t use it outside the browser? Backed with the millions of packages on npm, a JavaScript developer can easily accomplish many of the tasks that a “traditional scripting language” would have been used for.

This talk will be an exploration of how easy it can be for a dev, familiar with JavaScript, to create their own tools and commands.
